Measures to Keep in Mind while developing your website - WebCreatify

“The first impression is the last impression” This holds particularly true for the website. The website is the first thing that catches the visitor's eyes. If the visitor is impressed and going to stay and look at your site depends on how unique and perfect is the face of your company, i.e. the website. As of January 2020, there were over 1.74 billion websites across the world.

So, how are you going to stand out in that crowd? It is almost impossible for a business to do well without having a website that works well for both the company and its clients. Well-designed websites not only attract the visitors but help in understanding the product, company, content, design, and interactions, it should offer much more than just aesthetics. That means every element of your site needs to align with an overarching strategy. People will look at your website while doing their research, and they should get what they are looking for.

  • What Is Web Development?

It is the stage where the website itself is created. It involves a bulk of the programming work, as a functional website is being created by taking individual elements of the website. Unique requirements should be taken in order to avoid future nuisance like, building development framework, code templates for each page type, providing clean and cluttered workspace, loading all of the content, and at last reviewing the full website. CMS (content management system) like WordPress, e-commerce shopping carts, or interactive contact forms are the various elements implemented and made functional during this phase, as well. You and your customer should be in regular touch so that you can work on additional changes or corrections that are suggested by them.

  • Measures To Be Taken.

Every web development project has to go through certain steps that take the project from initiation to completion. Although the exact phase of the web development process varies slightly, the most basic steps remain the same, and they are:

  1. Project Planning.
  2. Website Design.
  3. Website Development.
  4. Content Creation.
  5. Testing and Launching.
  6. Maintenance.

1.Project Planning.

Planning refers to discovering, researching, and determining the overall goals and objectives of the web development project. This is arguably the most important stage in the entire project because what’s decided and mapped here sets the stage for the entire project and governs how the subsequent steps will look like. Different types of websites provide visitors with different functionality, a cooking website doesn’t contain the same information as an educational website, therefore it needs to be different, it will help in appealing the targeted audience. It also proves to be time and cost-saving as it avoids spending extra resources on solving the unexpected issues while giving a clear understanding of your future website purposes.

Steps to Consider:

Requirement Assessment – Requirement assessment refers to finding out the reason why your website is created? This includes determining the ultimate goals that the website aspires to achieve, target audience, detailed features, and as much relevant information as you can possibly gather.

Project Summary – The project summary sums up the website’s requirements and information that has been gathered. The document is typically concise and they serve as a reference throughout the project.

Determining Required Resources – The project planning stage also determines the required software and resources software for the website project. In this step, any 3rd party media needs are identified. Add all of the resource requirements to the project’s budget, charging the client where necessary. Along with these, certain things to keep in mind are Map, Contracts, Copyright, and other financial points.

2.Website Design.

The next critical stage of the website design process is designing the website itself, as it gives look and feels to your website. In this stage, all the visuals, such as images, photos, and videos are created. Web developers integrate various segments like the company’s graphic sketch, actual graphic design, logo, color, theme, and layout, all that give a general understanding of the future product. The customer and target audience must be kept in consideration. There should be proper communication between you and your customer, you should allow customers to view the project throughout the design and development stages. This will help in understanding the likes and dislikes, needs, and tastes of the customer. You will have to keep exchanging ideas until the customer is completely satisfied with the final design for your web site.

3. Website Development.

4. Content Creation.

Content plays the most important role in boosting the visibility of a website in search engine results, and its role cannot be underestimated and deserves a lot of expertise. When it comes to the text being used to give customers information, it is extremely necessary to keep the targeted audience in mind. There is a lot to consider when working on the content of the website, as it is going to help a visitor determine their next steps.

  1. Write a head-turning headline that goes with the content. Simple and smart, something that can catch the visitor’s attention.
  2. Content should be short and to-the-point, it shouldn’t belong and lifeless.
  3. The vocabulary should be understandable for an average person.
  4. The audience should have the feeling of achieving a victory while reading your content. It should get customers excited about the knowledge about the particular subject.
  5. The visuals will make it interesting for visitors to engage.
  6. Have a content that will give actionable results to the target audience who are going to consume it, this will make the content successful.
  7. Express your thoughts in a way that is not too hard to understand, communicate to the audience, visitors should feel a sense of resemblance.

5.Testing and Launching.

Before the website is launched, it is crucial that it is tested out by real users. All the links and content should be tested to see if it works. Not only is it important to test out all the buttons and everything on the site, but it is also important to test out what users think of it. There is user testing that can be completed to make sure the website is giving users what they need to be successful on the test. Don’t just check the website once, but check it over multiple times. When you are confident that everything is in working order, you can go ahead and launch your website live. When it comes to launching, you are finally ready and can do this by uploading it to the server. It is also important to make sure everything is running smoothly immediately after launching.

6.Maintenance.

You might think your job is done once the website is launched, but this is not the case. Since technology and products are changing more rapidly than ever before, it is important to stay up-to-date with what is happening on the internet. Maintaining a website is hard work, but the more effort put into its maintenance, the better. An important aspect of maintaining a website is to ensure that all content is current. This means that the correct information is on the website such as contact information, pricing, and customer reviews. By giving bad or outdated information, a customer will not be able to get in touch with the business owner, complete a purchase, and it can be frustrating.

  • Conclusion

The web development stage helps in creating a successful online presence. A web development project doesn't start with coding and stop with finally launching the website, actually in reality it can be a lengthy, but very rewarding process. Every measure is crucial that is why they need their own step.  When the above criteria are met, you will have to ensure that the website does its job, which is to gain visitor's attention and help your business be successful. A web development project should be agile and flexible enough so that the possibility to change the website according to user feedback exists.
